Cleo is a freelance public affairs and media consultant, with more than 17 years of experience working with the press. A long-time advocate, she also assists Amplify with third party outreach.
EXPERIENCE: Before becoming a freelance consultant, Cleo was Communications Director for the Governor's Office for Children, Youth and Family in Baltimore, MD. She also worked for Issue Dynamics, Inc. from 1999 to 2005. Prior to that Cleo served for nine years as Vice President for Public Affairs for the National Consumers League. She began her career in Washington, DC as a consumer advocate at Ralph Nader's Public Citizen, where she first started talking to reporters on a daily basis. Cleo is currently president of the Board of Directors of the Maryland Consumer Rights Coalition. She served as MCRC's acting Executive Director this summer, and has been on the MCRC board since 2000.
FUN FACT: She has been a guest on Oprah twice (1998, 1999), appearing as a consumer expert on fraud issues.
