She was a founding member of the National Health Policy Council, a non-profit group that hosted presidential candidate forums on health care in the 1980s and 1990s. Pat is co-founder of the Nightingale Policy Group, which promotes nursing's expertise on a wide range of health issues and has a major goal of putting a human face on the health care debate. Pat’s career included service as Atlanta regional director for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services from 1993 to 1999. Prior to that she held a White House appointment co-leading the Health Professionals Council working on health care reform.
