Samuel A. Simon is a nationally recognized authority on consumer and public affairs, and a 40-year veteran of the consumer movement. An award-winning innovator, Sam is a pioneer in adapting the Internet for use in public relations and public affairs and started the practice of bridging gaps between industry and non-traditional consumer groups. In addition to his role as Chairman of APA, Sam was honored to be selected as the first Fellow with Intersections International, where he leads their initiative to examine the intersection of power and values and its impact on peace, justice and reconciliation.

EXPERIENCE: Sam was a founder of Issue Dynamics, Inc., where he served as counsel to a variety of Fortune 500 companies.  Sam and IDI received national recognition for innovation in the media relations and grassroots mobilization arenas.  From 1978 until 1986, Sam served as president of the Telecommunications Research and Action Center, the nation's oldest consumer group concerned exclusively with telecommunications issues. He entered the public interest movement immediately following law school, working as one of the first staff attorneys for Ralph Nader.  A published author, Sam is frequently asked by members of the press, Congressional leaders and others to comment on consumer and public affairs issues. Sam is also the recipient of the Alliance for Public Technology Susan G. Hadden Pioneer Award and the Donald G. McGannon Award given by the Office of Communication of the United Church of Chris for achievement in promoting the interests of women and minorities in the media.

FUN FACT:  Sam was a guest on Oprah. Since getting a taste of the limelight, he has started taking acting lessons and has appeared in more than 15 productions, including an improv performance at the 78th Street Lab Theater (cross-street Broadway) in New York.
