USA Today Features Op-ed by AAN Edge Runner

Amplify Public Affairs (APA) was pleased to work with the American Academy of Nursing (AAN) and one of its Edge Runners, Tine Hansen-Turton, CEO of the National Nursing Centers Consortium, to place an Op-Ed in USA Today on the importance of nursing.

Co-authored by Pennsylvania Governor Edward Rendell, the op-ed discusses how nurse practitioners can help counter the family physician shortage by serving as primary care providers, particularly in rural and underserved areas. AAN’s Edge Runners are nursing leaders who bring new thinking and new methods to a wide range of health care challenges.

Have You Met Betty?

Bring Betty BroadbandEarlier this summer, APA helped launch Bring Betty Broadband, a project of So We Might See, an interfaith coalition working on media justice issues. The campaign targets faith communities around the country and is designed to bring attention to the need for greater access, deployment and education related to broadband internet services for Americans in typically underserved communities.

In addition to a web site and a short, humorous animated video, the campaign currently allows site visitors to enter a contest for a free iPod by writing a letter to Betty explaining Net Neutrality and the importance of Internet Openness.

Amplify Helps the Middle Project Build Its Community

NCL LogoWhat do you do when your organization outgrows its web presence? The Middle Project, whose mission is to prepare ethical leaders for a just society, is a project of New York's Middle Collegiate Church, but its one page deep within the Middle Church website could not support the vision of building an online and offline learning community. Amplify expanded on the Middle Project's new logo to create a striking web design for their own new site, and is building out the site in stages: first a landing page with information about their upcoming conference, then conference registration, then additional community features over the next several months.

Introducing the Rio Bravo Wildlife Institute

RBWI ScreenshotThis summer Amplify helped the new Rio Bravo Wildlife Institute (RBWI) establish itself as an advocate for innovative solutions to achieve social, economic, and environmental sustainability. The organization's emphasis on community-centered programming was a very influential factor in APA's design of RBWI.org. Throughout the website, prominent visual appeals help connect website visitors with RBWI's mission, and help show supporters how their actions contribute to the collective efforts of the Institute.

The organization's PROJECT: Ocelot call to action, featured on the homepage (see screenshot), is far more compelling as a photo of the animal itself with an overlaid message than it would be as mere text. In addition, Amplify also created an introductory video, also featured on the homepage, that illustrates the Institute's "beyond the customary" strategies to address the urgent need for creativity and innovation. These and other visual components contribute to the vibrant, graphic style of the website.

Learn About Comparative Effectiveness from the Disruptive Women in Health Care Blog

Comparative Effectiveness Research eBookOver the summer, Amplify’s Disruptive Women in Health Care blog conducted a virtual symposium on the topic of comparative effectiveness research. These studies may save money and produce better outcomes by demonstrating which treatments actually work, but there are also concerns about one-size-fits-all decisions and how the recommendations would be implemented.

Our regular and guest posters addressed comparative effectiveness from the viewpoints of patients, providers, innovators, caregivers, policymakers, rare diseases, minorities, and gender. Please download the free ebook to learn from our discussion.
